All created things are alive, conscious, and want to communicate. The Creator has endowed all creatures with wisdom and joy, and they are eager to share with us their ways of being in the world. In time we learn to recognize them as our companions. --Tom Cowan
The Little Black Lamb by Helena K. Beacham
I am the only little black lamb- The only one, that's what I am; All of the rest have little white faces I guess I'm a whole family tree of disgraces.
There was no moon the night I was born in- All the old ewes stood and looked in the morning; Mother was worried and low hung her head, I folded my black knees and sat on my bed And right then and there I made up my mind To leave wild oats alone, and maybe I'd find That people would like me, and always look back, Saying, "Look at that dear one, the one that is black."
